Business card slits are a staple in the folder biz. Nearly every folder we produce has them on at least one pocket, so we make it easy and economical to get the slits that your customer requires with four standard business card slits available at no additional charge.

BC1: Our most popular slit option for horizontal cards.
BC2: Our standard for vertical cards.
BC3: For those customers with both horizontal and vertical cards, the BC3 accommodates both.
BC4: Allows for using whichever corner combination is preferred for your customers’ card design or for using all four slits. This is slightly more cumbersome for the user, but does allow for greater stability.
Nonstandard BC Slits
We know that the four options above don’t work for everyone, so we also have nonstandard slits available for a small additional charge. All three of these options are for horizontal cards.

BC5: The opposite corners of the BC1 are more appropriate for some card designs.
BC6: Semi-circular slits are preferred by some customers.
BC7: This option is perfect for those who prefer this type of slit but don’t need the vertical slits included with the BC3.
Custom Slits
If these slits don’t meet your needs, we’re happy to create custom slits for your project. Be sure to include the exact slits—size, shape, positioning—that you want in your art file, and note that custom slits do incur an additional charge that varies based on the complexity, the original folder design, and the number of special slits needed. If your slits are for a special-sized card, it’s a good idea to send the actual card so we can test the slits’ functionality as well.
We can also accommodate other types of special slits, like those for brochures, other types of inserts, and other types of cards. So if you’re looking for something in particular, contact our customer service team at info@pocketfoldersfast.com or 844-427-2642.
Also note that the additional charge is for the special make-ready time required on each order, so the fee applies to the first order and each order thereafter.
Positioning
We have standard positioning options that include centered, “up,” “down,” “inside,” and “outside.”

Centered: The slits are centered vertically and horizontally on the pocket. Note that this positioning might not be exact depending on the size of the pocket and the size/placement of the glue flaps.

Up: The slits are centered horizontally and placed toward the top edge of the pocket, allowing for additional space below the business card for text and graphics.

Down: The opposite of Up, the slits are centered horizontally and positioned toward the bottom of the pocket.

Inside: The slits are centered vertically and positioned toward the inside edge of the pocket (closer to the center fold). Positioning may be limited by the angle of the V-cut (in other words, the angle of the interior edge of the pockets).

Outside: The slits are centered vertically and positioned toward the outside edge of the pocket. How close the slits can be to the edge depends on the style of folder and the size/placement of the glue tabs.
Custom Positioning
You also have the option of custom positioning so that the slits fit your design perfectly. Custom positioning incurs a small additional cost because we have to create a custom die insert. If you would like custom positioning, please include the slits in your art file for us to follow.
Trying to work your design around the BC slits but don’t want the extra expense of custom positioning? Our templates include our four standard slits centered on the pockets. If you would like a template with the slits in one of our other standard positions (up, down, inside, outside), just contact us. We’re happy to provide whatever you need.
Which Pocket Is Which?
Referring to the correct pocket can be confusing—do you refer to the flat layout positioning or the folded and glued positioning?
Let’s keep it easy. We always refer to pockets as they appear in the final assembled folder. That means that…
Right Pocket: This is the inside back pocket. It appears below the back cover on the flat layout.
Left Pocket: This is the inside front pocket, and it appears below the front cover on the flat layout.
